How to install WordPress on Hostgator

Yesterday we wrote a post about “How to buy web hosting ?“. In today’s post we will explain you how you can easily install WordPress on Hostgator.

So far, Hostgator is one of the best and idle web hosting company. It is completely reliable and provides you with a very good customer support. Hang on, i m not the brand ambassador of Hostgator, all views stated here are based on my personnel experience. Now lets come to the topic and talk about Installing WordPress on Hostgator hosting.

 

The various ways by which you can install WordPress on Hostgator server are :

  • Manual
  • Fantastico
  • Quick Install
But here we will talk about the simplest and most convenient method, that is via Fantastico.
So here are the steps :

1. Login to your Hostgator control panel. Now under Software/services, click on Fantastico.

2. On the next page, left side click on WordPress under Blogs category.
3. Now click on New installation

4. From the drop down menu, Select the domain name in which you wish to install wordpress. If you’ve got an individual site hosting plan, this will default to your one domain.

5. In the section that says, “Admin access data,” is where you’ll put the login name and password you want to use to log into your WordPress blog dashboard.

6. Fill in the “Base Configuration” fields with the name you want to be associated with all the posts you write in your new blog. Also, add in your email address and the website’s domain name for your new blog.
7. Hit “Install WordPress.

8. On the next page you will be given the domain information, to make sure that it’s being installed on the correct domain. If it looks good, click “Finish Installation.”

9. That’s it. You’re done. You’ve just installed WordPress on your new website. Make a note of your login information and/or print out the information on the screen so that you can remember how/where to log in so that you can access your new blog.

Confirmation

Now if you wish to access your WordPress dashboard, all you need to do is just go to www.YourSiteName.com/wp-admin and enter your login credentials.

    Despite of the one click installation I generally prefer doing the complete process manually, as you have full control over the installation.

      Yes Ram, we do have full control in manual installation. But since this blog of mine is dedicated to absolute newbies, therefore i guess “one click installation” will suit them more.
